Gymnastics Rings Olympics

Men’s gymnastics rings was an important event in the Olympics.

The gymnastics rings has been an Olympic event since 1996 in Atlanta Olympics, and it has continued to give gymnastics fans an exciting and artistic performance on the apparatus. The rings are two bars that accommodate gymnasts to hang from by either hand while performing unbelievable feats of strength and balance where the rings are allowed to swing freely above the floor.

The rings event for men in Olympics is one man on the rings that have to perform a series of holds, swings, strength positions, and dismounts, totaling 70 seconds with background music. It involves techniques as simple as inverted cross and L sit and as complex as Azarian cross, Honma and different types of giants swings. Gymnasts increase the difficulty of routines through the performance of combinations of skills and by maintaining positions and balances for a period of not less than two seconds.

It can be seen that the rings involve a high degree of upper body and core strength for the male gymnasts. Some of the most common gymnastics such as the iron cross are done after building up lots of muscle strength in the shoulders, back, and arms to support the iron cross. The rings are also an extremely strenuous core exercise as gymnasts struggle not to flex throughout the movements and positions. More challenge is obtained from the fact that the structure swings from one direction to another in the process of testing.

In recent Olympics, China has become a force to reckon with in this event, the team was crowned with gold in the last four Olympics. Bars specialists, Liu Yang and You Hao have made Chinese gymnastics to introduce new elements of difficulty and quality. Turkey, Greece, and other challengers will have another opportunity to dethrone China in the next edition of the Olympics scheduled to be held in 2020. As with many skills, the rings are still changing, and new combinations are being attempted, which means the rings remain one of the most thrilling displays of strength in all of gymnastics.
