The 2024 Olympic Games: Paris: The Capital of Love

Paris is hosting the 2024 Summer Olympic Games, and it will be third time that the Olympics are to take place in the area that is known as the City of Light, apart from the 1900 and the 1924 Games. Lasting from the July 26 to August 11, 2024, more than 10,500 participants from 206 nations will be engaged in 339 sets of competitions in 33 disciplines.

This makes sense because Paris 2024 assures to bring creative and ecological platforms that embody the spirit of the City of Light. Some places have been chosen for the purpose of hosting more than one sport; for example Champs de Mars where, apart from the finish of the road cycling, beach volleyball will also be played, under the shadows of the Eiffel Tower. The competition will open and close in the courtyard of the Château de Versailles, reviving the spirit of the Games for the audience.

Concern with sustainability primarily environmental defines the preparation for Paris 2024. Energy conservation measures will be used to light the venues as well as the Olympic Village with a view of using renewable electricity and reducing waste as much as possible. Concerning transport, improvements proposed will ensure that the legacy of paris region is environmental friendly. Event attendees will be encouraged to contribute towards reducing carbon emissions by insisting on the use of public transport, walking or cycling to events.

While traditional disciplines including athletics, swimming and artistic gymnastics, the Paris 2024 games will feature breaking, climbing, skateboarding, and surfing – new disciplines introduced by the IOC appealing to the younger generation. It may also be an exhibition event or demo sport, which means that competitors will not be awarded medals.

As the preparation goes with less than 18 months to the Opening Ceremony, the organizers are doing their best to provide the people with an excellent, creative and environmentally friendly Olympics that have not lost such key elements of the Olympics as the unification of athletes in friendly competition of the nations and the passion of athletes as they achieve their Olympic dreams.
